Free Motion Stitching

Happy New Year!!! The holidays have been great, skiing in japan was the highlight but they are soon coming to an end :( I have recently received the book 'We Make Dolls' by Jenny Doh.  I have been waiting for it for so long and finally, last Wednesday, it arrived in the letterbox. The book is fantastic, all the dolls in there are beautiful and come from many blog authors that I follow.

I came across the dolls made by Danita which include the sewing technique 'free motion stitching' which allows you to 'draw' with thread. This morning I decided to give it a go and I was surprised by how easy it was. Of course sometimes the thread clumps up and then slips but with practise that will all go away. This morning I 'drew' an eye and a face-

And a Wallet to Match

After making my backpack I then realised that I didn't have a nice wallet to match. So this morning while mum and my sister were out shopping I pieced together a wallet made from the material and felt from Purl Bee Soho in New York. The felt button on the front is also from Purl Bee Soho which I thought was a cute addition. Here is my cute wallet that matches my backpack-

Backpack, Backpack!

It's almost Christmas and we have been extremely busy!!! In fact, today was the only day that I have had nothing organised to do, for the last three weeks. Soon our family is off to Japan and since I don't own a cute, small backpack I thought I would look up a tutorial on the internet and make one! I found a great tutorial by Sew to Speak called Petite Pack. The bag took a while to make, well 7 hrs to be exact but it is definitely worth it. Here is my newest backpack-

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, this will probably be my last post until 2013.

Glove Project

Yes, it is summer but I this urge to start knitting. I've have always just made the simple scarves so this time I decided to work out how to knit a fingerless glove. With some adjustments throughout the project I finished my first glove this afternoon. The only wool we had in the entire house was yellow, which is why my glove is a hideous bright yellow. Here are some pictures...

Christmas Holidays!!!

Finally it is Christmas holidays and I actually have time to do another things others than schoolwork, assignments and studying for exams!!! Today, being my fourth day holidays, I thought it was time to make something, since you haven't heard from me in almost 6 months, oops. I am thinking of doing another market store, like last year, so this is the first of many foxes to come. Here is my newest member to Softies and Other Creations. She is a little fox, dressed in christmas colours because this year I am going to theme all my stuff. Here she is!

Just quickly, I would like to mention that I recently was looking at my favourite blog, RevoluzZza and saw that the author, Susie had made a shout out to all her customers who had uploaded photos of their foxes and I found that I was in her favourite 6! It was such a surprise and I was so excited. The link is here and here is a screen shot type of thing.

Hello- I am Still Alive

This semester I have been incredibly busy with school, sport and HOMEWORK! But thank goodness that semester 1 is over and I now have 8 weeks off school! Last week I didn't have any homework or assessment and recently I have fallen in love with Hine (a Japanese crafter) work so I decided to create a camera case based on her designs. Of course I had to make my own patterns to fit my new camera and everything so I guess it sort of is my own creation. I used felt to make the case with quite a few buttons and a small piece of patterned fabric. Altogether I am very happy with the end result. I will be back soon with a phone case which I am making for my friends birthday. Here are some pictures ~

Rat-a-tat-HAT!

The new school year has began and everyone was very tired after their first week! This weekend I tackled a hat, a very simple hat. It didn't take me very long and was very easy to make, the only problem being that the hat isn't quite my size so I gave it to my sister. I really like the material I used to sew it up and I think the stripes look great! Here is a few picture of my sister in the hat~
